Petie ("we", "our", or "us") is a pet care marketplace operating in Cyprus. We are the data controller responsible for your personal information collected through the Petie mobile application and website (petieapp.com).

Account data: Your name, email address, phone number, and profile photo when you register.

Pet data: Information about your pets including name, breed, size, and photos.

Booking data: Service bookings, dates, times, and related communications between owners and carers.

Location data: Your general location (city) to show nearby pet carers. Precise GPS location is requested only when you browse carers and is not stored on our servers.

Payment data: We do not process or store payment card details. Payments are handled directly between owners and carers.

Usage data: App usage analytics collected via PostHog (anonymised), including screens visited, features used, and crash reports.

Communications: Messages sent between users within the app.

We process your data under the following legal bases as defined in Article 6 of the GDPR:

• Contract performance: To provide our booking and marketplace services.
• Legitimate interests: To improve our platform, prevent fraud, and ensure user safety.
• Consent: For marketing communications (you may withdraw consent at any time).
• Legal obligation: Where required by applicable law.

• To facilitate bookings between pet owners and pet carers
• To enable in-app messaging between users
• To send booking confirmations and service notifications
• To display your profile to other users as part of the marketplace
• To improve our app and fix bugs using anonymised analytics

• To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

We share limited data in the following circumstances:

• Between users: Your name, profile photo, and relevant pet/service details are shared with the other party in a booking.
• Service providers: We use Cloudinary (image storage), PostHog (analytics), and Formspree (contact forms). These providers process data on our behalf under data processing agreements.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose data when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g. financial records).

You can request account deletion at any time from within the app (Profile → Settings → Delete Account) or by emailing contact@petieapp.com.

Our website (petieapp.com) uses only essential cookies required for the site to function. We use PostHog for anonymised analytics to understand how visitors use the site. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.

As a resident of the EU/EEA, you have the following rights:

• Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Rectification: Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Erasure: Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, secure cloud storage, hashed passwords, and JWT-based authentication. Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel only.

Petie is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Cyprus Commissioner for Personal Data Protection:
